Horatio Alger Scholarships
To be eligible to apply for a Horatio Alger National or State Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be enrolled full time as a high school junior or senior in the United States

Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States

Demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
- Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

Seniors living in San Jacinto College’s taxing district, qualify for the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship. They’ll cover your 1st associate degree or certificate (tuition, books, and supplies) 100% for a 3-year period for full-time attendance! This means less stress for you and a debt-free start on your future.
To receive the Promise Scholarship, you must:- Sign your pledge
- Apply to San Jac using ApplyTexas
- Apply for FAFSA
- Register for classes (must attend full-time)

It’s meant for students who are ineligible for federal aid through FAFSA® who are Texas residents and went to high school for at least three years in the state. These include, but are not limited to, foreign nationals, legal permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens. You can only apply for either FAFSA or TASFA, not both.
