ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Alumni Spotlight

  • Our February spotlight highlights three 2012 North Shore Senior High graduates; Micah Autry, Jessica Martinez and Cristian Melendez.

In high school, these three students were very active in extracurricular activities. Autry participated in band, video club, Gents and National Honor Society. Autry’s video, “Drones,” made it to SXSW in 2012 and he was the president of Gents. Melendez was an active member of Gents, video club and debate. He also served as a Gents officer. Martinez was involved in video club, National Honor Society and soccer. Martinez was captain of the varsity soccer team for two years and a Stampede Studio officer. During high school, the trio participated in the 24 Hour Film Festival and received the Viewer’s Choice Award for their film, “With the Help of Love”.

After high school, these three students attended University of North Texas to further their studies. During college, they participated in the Video Association of Dallas 24 Hour Video Race and received 1st place in the college division.  While finishing their bachelor’s degrees, they opened their own media company called AUME Motion Arts in Denton. They specialize in wedding videography, portraits, corporate video productions, music video directing, motion graphics and advertising. The trio plans to expand their company to different cities in the future.

The three accredit Mr. Mark Nickelson, their high school video teacher, for playing a huge role in why they do what they do at AUME. He taught them many life lessons; they greatly appreciate everything he has done for them. Autry and Melendez both acknowledge Mr. Brian Allen, GPISD Gents sponsor, for molding young men and preparing them for college and the future.

The trio teaches video courses for youth, and they work with non-profit organizations, including Punching Out Parkinson’s, Michael Finley Foundation and Mercy Street.
