Our November spotlight is Shamier Moore, Capt., USAF, MC, D.O., a 2003 North Shore Senior High graduate. She attended Cunningham Middle School, North Shore Ninth Grade and North Shore Senior High School. Moore was an active student at NSSHS; she played varsity basketball and track, was a member of honor society and Who’s Who Among American High School Students and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While attending GPISD, the educators who made a huge impact in her life were Coach Allison Campbell, Coach Phillips, Coach Caesar, Doc Lyle and her middle school principal, Dr. Williams.
Upon graduation, Moore attended Prairie View A&M University on a full scholarship from the Undergraduate Medical Academy. While attending PVAMU, she was on the honor roll and Dean’s List. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she went to medical school at Oklahoma State University- College of Osteopathic Medicine and was a member of Sigma Phi Honors. She later transferred to the University of North Texas to receive her medical degree. She completed her residency at Memorial Hermann Family Medicine Residency in June 2016.
Moore is now a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician in the United States Air Force. She is an Air Force Captain providing care for the military students training at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. In the future, Moore would like continue her career as a physician and open her own family practice in Houston. She aspires to be the team doctor for North Shore Senior High one day!
Moore would like to thank everyone who has helped her get to where she is today. Without their support and love, her dream would not have been realized. Special thanks go out to her girls, Syniah and Delaney, who continue to be the fuel to her fire to help her strive to be the best, so they don’t have to look far for a role model.
